“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles..."

― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Hi, I’m Tony Gilgis. I'll be guiding you along the path towards better understanding yourself, and those around you... and, hopefully, helping you know what to do with your newfound knowledge.

But first, you probably want to know what I bring to the table, or at least what gives me the credentials to present this course to you.

I began my career in 1989 and have served as a member of the U.S. intelligence community for 33 years, with 21 years directly supporting Special Operations around the globe. Most recently, I have provided consulting services within the Department of Defense on both Special Operations and Intelligence efforts.

Over the course of my career, I have conducted operational deployments in support of strategic national objectives and tactical operations. This experience has given me a unique and unparalleled understanding of how human interaction can be used to explain actions and shape decisions. The application of this knowledge has led to some great stories that can never be told - but the lessons of those events can, and should, be passed along.

What I have put together here are some of those lessons - each based on direct experience. I am providing them to you because they have practical, real-world, applications as well as providing a good baseline for understanding human behavior.

Course Design

Each lesson within this subject is designed as a self-paced, standalone training session, providing you with 60-90 minutes of training time - between the slides, additional reading, and other activities to foster continued growth.

Each lesson builds on previous knowledge gained. Therefore, it is best to approach this subject in order.

This first Lesson introduces you to the concept of cognitive biases and explores how our personality impacts the way we think and make decisions.
